Foundry-ready learners develop the practical capability to set up, operate and monitor sand moulding and core-making machinery, producing moulds and cores safely and consistently. For your RTO, this creates a targeted training opportunity for metal casting workplaces and supports pathways into production, patternmaking and foundry operations.

  • Industry relevance: These skills apply in foundries producing cast components, where operators prepare sand moulds and cores for reliable metal casting.
  • Training pathway: The unit supports pathways into engineering and manufacturing roles, including foundry production, casting operations and further specialist training.
  • Practical learner outcomes: Learners build capability to interpret job instructions, prepare materials, operate equipment, monitor quality and respond to process issues.
  • Scope growth opportunity: It is a logical addition for RTOs delivering engineering, fabrication or manufacturing training seeking stronger coverage of casting production skills.

Editable files, learner materials, assessment tools and assessor guidance help RTOs deliver MEM04006 training resources with structure; explore the available materials.

Built Around Real Workplace Contexts

The Standards for RTOs require training and assessment to reflect genuine workplace conditions, current industry expectations and the way tasks are performed in practice. For this unit, that means giving learners opportunities to develop authentic workplace practice around sand moulding, core making, machine operation, safety procedures and production quality.

Our MEM04006 training materials help trainers connect learning with genuine foundry activities, including interpreting job requirements, preparing materials, inspecting moulds and cores, operating equipment, identifying defects, completing routine maintenance and reporting production issues. Activities can be contextualised to reflect the processes, machinery and documentation used in each learner’s workplace.

Foundry Production Floors

In a production foundry, learners need to operate sand moulding and core making machines safely while maintaining consistency, following work instructions and responding to quality issues. The MEM04006 training resources help trainers contextualise learning and assessment around production schedules, machine set-up, sand condition checks, mould and core inspection, housekeeping and workplace reporting.

Metal Casting and Engineering Workshops

Engineering workshops involved in casting components may use different moulding systems, core equipment and production controls depending on the size and type of work undertaken. MEM04006 learning materials support practical delivery by helping trainers relate activities to workshop drawings, tooling requirements, equipment inspections, maintenance procedures, defect identification and communication between operators, supervisors and quality personnel.

Training Foundries and Manufacturing Facilities

Training foundries and manufacturing facilities provide a controlled environment for learners to practise operating sand moulding and core making equipment before applying their skills in production. RTO resources help trainers build realistic scenarios around personal protective equipment, start-up and shut-down procedures, material handling, process adjustments, safe responses to equipment problems and accurate completion of workplace records.

Any Delivery Mode

The editable MEM04006 RTO training materials support classroom delivery, workplace delivery, blended learning and online delivery. Trainers can contextualise learning activities, examples and assessments for their learner cohort, available equipment, workplace processes and the expectations of the relevant foundry or manufacturing environment.

Hear What RTOs Say About Our Awesome RTO Training Materials

Just sharing my experience with these resources. The resources that we have purchased from RTO Learning Materials were expectional during audit and mainly when these were implemented with trainers and students. At start it was a bit hard for our trainer's to fully absorb these resources as they are very detailed as compared to the old ones that we have been using but once trainers were able to complete their learning it was a piece of cake to collect and collate evidence from students. Furthermore, during our pre-validation meetings we have also observed that the learning component is very well covered thereby providing enough information for our trainers to keep students engaged at all times. I would also like to highlight a staff member from sales team 'Mr. Amar Shah' who has been exceptional in his service and goes beyond his call of duty. Thank you Amar and RTO Learning Materials for all your support. Regards, Amit Thakur
