Safe, effective work practices help manufacturing and engineering workers identify hazards, use PPE and equipment correctly, and maintain productive, orderly work areas. For your RTO, MEM13015 provides a practical entry point for learners preparing for workshops, production floors and trade-related pathways.

  • Industry relevance: These skills apply across fabrication, machining, maintenance, assembly and engineering workplaces, where hazard controls and housekeeping support daily operations.
  • Training pathway: It supports pre-apprenticeship, entry-level and trade pathway programs in manufacturing and engineering, providing a foundation for further technical training.
  • Practical learner outcomes: Learners develop the ability to follow instructions, recognise risks, select PPE, handle workplace tools and materials, and respond appropriately to incidents.
  • Scope growth opportunity: RTOs delivering engineering, fabrication or manufacturing training can add this foundation unit to broaden introductory offerings and meet employer demand.

Editable files, learner materials, assessment tools and assessor guidance make MEM13015 training resources easier to deliver and adapt. Explore the available RTO materials.

Built Around Real Manufacturing and Engineering Workplaces

The Standards for RTOs require training and assessment to reflect genuine workplace conditions, current industry expectations and the way work is actually performed. For this unit, that means giving learners opportunities to practise safe work behaviours, follow procedures and communicate effectively in authentic manufacturing and engineering environments.

Our MEM13015 training materials help trainers connect learning with activities such as identifying hazards, selecting and using personal protective equipment, following safe operating procedures, maintaining good housekeeping, reporting incidents and completing workplace documentation. Learners can also apply safe manual handling, teamwork and equipment-use practices in contexts that reflect their role and level of responsibility.

Manufacturing Facilities

In production environments, learners need to work safely around machinery, materials, moving equipment, noise and changing work priorities while following site procedures.

The MEM13015 RTO training materials help trainers contextualise learning and assessment around production lines, pre-start checks, housekeeping routines, hazard reporting, PPE requirements and communication between operators, supervisors and maintenance personnel.

Engineering Workshops

Engineering workshops require learners to apply safe work practices when using hand tools, power tools, machinery, materials and shared work areas.

Trainers can use the MEM13015 training resources to frame activities around workshop inductions, risk controls, tool and equipment checks, safe work instructions, manual handling and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.

Fabrication and Maintenance Work Areas

Fabrication and maintenance tasks often involve restricted work areas, stored energy, hot work, sharp materials, lifting activities and coordination with other workers.

The MEM13015 learning materials support contextualised delivery through practical scenarios involving permits and procedures, isolation requirements, site communication, housekeeping, emergency responses and accurate completion of workplace records.

Any Delivery Mode

The editable RTO resources support classroom delivery, workplace delivery, blended learning and online delivery. Trainers can contextualise learning activities, examples and assessments for their learner cohort, workplace setting, available equipment and the expectations of the relevant manufacturing or engineering industry.

Just sharing my experience with these resources. The resources that we have purchased from RTO Learning Materials were expectional during audit and mainly when these were implemented with trainers and students. At start it was a bit hard for our trainer's to fully absorb these resources as they are very detailed as compared to the old ones that we have been using but once trainers were able to complete their learning it was a piece of cake to collect and collate evidence from students. Furthermore, during our pre-validation meetings we have also observed that the learning component is very well covered thereby providing enough information for our trainers to keep students engaged at all times. I would also like to highlight a staff member from sales team 'Mr. Amar Shah' who has been exceptional in his service and goes beyond his call of duty. Thank you Amar and RTO Learning Materials for all your support. Regards, Amit Thakur
