Concrete construction teams gain the capability to set out, form, reinforce and place reinforced concrete box culverts for drainage and civil infrastructure works. For your RTO, RIICRC209E Lay reinforced concrete box culverts adds a practical civil construction option for learners seeking site-ready skills and progression into broader road and infrastructure training.

  • Industry relevance: These skills are used on roads, highways, subdivisions and drainage projects where durable culvert structures are required.
  • Training pathway: The unit supports civil construction learners progressing towards concreting, drainage, formwork and infrastructure roles.
  • Practical learner outcomes: Learners develop the ability to interpret plans, prepare foundations, install reinforcement and formwork, and place concrete to project requirements.
  • Scope growth opportunity: It is a logical addition for RTOs delivering related civil construction, concreting or roadwork training.

Built Around Real Workplace Contexts

The Standards for RTOs require training and assessment to reflect genuine workplace conditions, current industry practices and the expectations learners will encounter on site. For this unit, authentic workplace practice means preparing work areas, interpreting plans, coordinating with site personnel and laying reinforced concrete box culverts safely and accurately.

Our RIICRC209E training materials help trainers connect learning with activities such as checking specifications, calculating levels and quantities, inspecting bedding and joints, operating relevant equipment, communicating with civil construction crews and completing workplace documentation.

Road and Highway Construction Sites

Box culverts are commonly installed during road construction and upgrades to manage drainage beneath carriageways, shoulders and access points. Training resources help trainers contextualise learning around traffic management, excavation controls, site set-out, lifting operations, alignment checks and backfilling requirements.

Subdivision and Civil Infrastructure Projects

New subdivisions and infrastructure projects require culverts to be installed in accordance with engineering drawings, drainage plans and project specifications. RIICRC209E RTO training materials support practical activities involving plan interpretation, service location, bedding preparation, component placement, joint inspection and reporting non-conformances.

Rural and Local Road Drainage Works

Rural and local road projects often involve variable ground conditions, restricted access and coordination with councils, landowners and other contractors. Trainers can use RIICRC209E training resources to develop realistic scenarios covering site preparation, equipment selection, level and grade checks, environmental controls, communication and completion records.

Any Delivery Mode

The editable RIICRC209E learning materials support classroom delivery, workplace delivery, blended learning and online delivery. Trainers can contextualise learning activities, examples and assessments for their learner cohort, available equipment, project conditions and local civil construction practices.

Just sharing my experience with these resources. The resources that we have purchased from RTO Learning Materials were expectional during audit and mainly when these were implemented with trainers and students. At start it was a bit hard for our trainer's to fully absorb these resources as they are very detailed as compared to the old ones that we have been using but once trainers were able to complete their learning it was a piece of cake to collect and collate evidence from students. Furthermore, during our pre-validation meetings we have also observed that the learning component is very well covered thereby providing enough information for our trainers to keep students engaged at all times. I would also like to highlight a staff member from sales team 'Mr. Amar Shah' who has been exceptional in his service and goes beyond his call of duty. Thank you Amar and RTO Learning Materials for all your support. Regards, Amit Thakur
