Plan safe, efficient mobile crane lifts by interpreting load information, assessing site conditions, selecting suitable equipment and coordinating lift controls. For your RTO, this unit adds a practical pathway for construction, infrastructure, mining and logistics workers involved in lifting operations.

  • Industry relevance: Skills apply to lift planning on construction sites, industrial projects, infrastructure works, mines and transport operations.
  • Training pathway: The unit supports crane operation, dogging, rigging, supervision and broader construction or resources-sector development.
  • Practical learner outcomes: Learners develop the ability to plan lift sequences, identify hazards, establish controls, interpret crane capacity information and coordinate site communication.
  • Scope growth opportunity: It is a logical addition for RTOs already delivering mobile crane, dogging, rigging, plant operation or workplace safety training.

Editable files, learner materials, assessment tools and assessor guidance support structured delivery, while TLIB0045 training resources help RTOs expand their offering efficiently. Explore the available resources.

Built Around Real Workplace Contexts

The Standards for RTOs require training and assessment to reflect genuine workplace conditions, current industry expectations and the way work is actually performed. For TLIB0045 Plan a mobile crane lift operation, this means providing opportunities to apply planning processes in authentic crane lift environments, with realistic site constraints, safety requirements and communication practices.

Our TLIB0045 training materials help trainers connect learning with workplace activities such as reviewing lift requirements, identifying hazards, assessing ground conditions, selecting suitable equipment, interpreting load information, establishing exclusion zones and documenting lift plans. Learners can also practise coordinating with crane operators, doggers, riggers, supervisors and other site personnel before a lift proceeds.

Construction Sites

On commercial and civil construction sites, mobile crane lifts must be planned around changing work areas, overhead services, traffic movements, ground conditions and the presence of multiple contractors. Training resources help trainers contextualise learning and assessment through lift planning activities that reflect site inspections, pre-start discussions, communication protocols, load movement controls and required documentation.

Infrastructure and Roadwork Projects

Infrastructure projects often involve lifting materials near live roads, rail corridors, bridges, utilities and restricted access areas. Trainers can use the TLIB0045 RTO training materials to develop realistic scenarios involving traffic management interfaces, weather conditions, public safety, exclusion zones, setup locations and coordination with project supervisors.

Industrial, Mining and Maintenance Sites

Industrial facilities, mining operations and maintenance shutdowns may require mobile crane lifts in congested areas, around operating plant or within tightly scheduled work programs. The resources support contextualised assessment of lift plans, equipment and load considerations, hazard controls, contingency arrangements, communications and reporting requirements relevant to these higher-risk environments.

Any Delivery Mode

The editable TLIB0045 training resources support classroom delivery, workplace delivery, blended learning and online delivery. Trainers can contextualise learning activities, examples and assessments for their learner cohort, including the types of cranes, loads, worksites and organisational procedures relevant to their industry setting. These adaptable RTO resources help maintain a consistent focus on practical lift planning and workplace expectations across delivery modes.

Just sharing my experience with these resources. The resources that we have purchased from RTO Learning Materials were expectional during audit and mainly when these were implemented with trainers and students. At start it was a bit hard for our trainer's to fully absorb these resources as they are very detailed as compared to the old ones that we have been using but once trainers were able to complete their learning it was a piece of cake to collect and collate evidence from students. Furthermore, during our pre-validation meetings we have also observed that the learning component is very well covered thereby providing enough information for our trainers to keep students engaged at all times. I would also like to highlight a staff member from sales team 'Mr. Amar Shah' who has been exceptional in his service and goes beyond his call of duty. Thank you Amar and RTO Learning Materials for all your support. Regards, Amit Thakur
