22 September 2023 UET Training Package Updates

Is your RTO specializing in delivering training in the electrical, construction, or high-risk industries field? If so, we’ve got some exciting news that could reshape the way you offer training and certification programs. The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has introduced extended transition periods for a range of qualifications in the transmission, distribution, and rail sector (UET) training package.

Extended Transition Period for Essential UET Qualifications

ASQA’s recent decision to approve extended transition periods applies to a set of UET qualifications essential in high-risk industries. These include:

  • UETDRRF001 Perform cable pit/trench/excavation rescue
  • UETDRRF002 Perform EWP rescue
  • UETDRRF003 Perform pole top rescue
  • UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel
  • UETDRRF005 Perform rescue from switchyard structures at heights
  • UETDRRF006 Perform tower rescue
  • UETTDRRF08 Perform EWP controlled descent escape

These courses are vital for professionals operating in environments where safety is paramount. And now, you have more time to ensure your students receive the best training possible.

Additional Year to Transition

The transition period for training, assessment, and certification issuance has been extended from 13 October 2023 to 13 October 2024. This gives your RTO the freedom and flexibility to ensure that your students are fully equipped to excel in their respective fields. Remember, students must complete and receive certification by the new transition end date to benefit from this extension.

ASQA Coordinating with National Authorities

ASQA’s decision doesn’t just stop at the borders of a single state. They’ve taken the proactive step of advising both the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority and the Training Accreditation Council of Western Australia about this extended transition period. This ensures that RTOs across Australia can make the most of this opportunity.

What the UET Training Package Update Means for RTOs

The training products mentioned above will remain on your RTO’s scope of registration until the end of the extended transition period. This means you can confidently continue offering these critical courses to your students without disruption.

Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to enhance your training programs and provide top-tier education to your students.
